PCI ER-2020 sets a minimum 45% aggregate at 12th level for general-category candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD reserved candidates. State-level ceilings differ slightly but the PCI floor cannot be undercut. The table below summarises the marks threshold by category for the 2026 admission cycle.
| Category | Min aggregate (12th PCB/PCM) | Subjects to count | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| General | 45% | Physics + Chemistry + (Biology or Maths) | Standard PCI ER-2020 floor |
| SC / ST | 40% | Physics + Chemistry + (Biology or Maths) | Caste certificate required at admission |
| OBC (Karnataka) | 40% | Physics + Chemistry + (Biology or Maths) | Cat-I, Cat-IIA, Cat-IIB, Cat-IIIA, Cat-IIIB |
| PWD (Persons with Disability) | 40% | Physics + Chemistry + (Biology or Maths) | PWD certificate required (40% disability minimum) |

PCI accepts a wide range of 10+2 qualifications provided the subject combination criterion is met. The table below confirms which boards are equivalent for D Pharma admission and what supplementary documentation each requires. State-board-specific migration certificate requirements apply when the issuing board is outside Karnataka.
| Board / qualification | Accepted? | Migration certificate | Other docs |
|---|---|---|---|
| State PUC / 12th boards (KSEEB, MSBSHSE, BSEAP, BSET, etc.) | ✅ Yes | Required if outside Karnataka | Marksheet + TC |
| CBSE Class XII | ✅ Yes | Required if outside Karnataka | Marksheet + TC |
| ICSE / ISC Class XII | ✅ Yes | Required if outside Karnataka | Marksheet + TC |
| NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) | ✅ Yes | Required | Marksheet + Migration |
| IB (International Baccalaureate) | ✅ Yes | Required + AIU equivalence | Transcript + AIU letter |
| IGCSE / A-Level (Cambridge) | ✅ Yes (with AIU) | Required + AIU equivalence | Transcript + AIU letter |
| NIOS Senior Secondary (open school) | ✅ Yes | Required | Marksheet + Migration |
| 3-year Polytechnic Diploma after 10th | ❌ No (D Pharma needs 12th) | — | Not equivalent for D Pharma entry |
| Vocational PUC / 12th | ✅ Yes (subject-equivalence required) | Required if outside Karnataka | Marksheet + Subject Equivalence Certificate |
| Foreign 12th equivalents (American HS, etc.) | ✅ Yes (with AIU) | Required + AIU equivalence | Transcript + AIU letter + passport |
PCI ER-2020 specifies a minimum age of 17 years on or before 31 December of the admission year. There is no upper age limit at the PCI level, though specific scholarship schemes and government quota seats may impose their own age ceilings. Mature learners and gap-year students apply every year without issue.
| Admission year | Must be born on or before | Minimum age on 31 Dec | Upper age limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 31 December 2009 | 17 years | None at PCI / Noble level |
| 2027 | 31 December 2010 | 17 years | None at PCI / Noble level |
| 2028 | 31 December 2011 | 17 years | None at PCI / Noble level |
| 2029 | 31 December 2012 | 17 years | None at PCI / Noble level |
While core PCI eligibility is uniform across India, government-quota D Pharma seats require state-level entrance counselling. The CET name and timing differ by state. Private/management quota direct admission (Noble College's route) bypasses CET entirely — only 10+2 marks matter.
| State | CET name | Conducted by | Typical exam window | Government quota date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Karnataka | KCET / KEA-DCET | Karnataka Examinations Authority | April – May | Counselling July–Sep |
| Maharashtra | MH-CET (Pharm) | Maharashtra State CET Cell | May | Counselling June–Aug |
| Telangana | TG EAPCET | TSCHE / JNTU Hyderabad | May | Counselling July–Aug |
| Andhra Pradesh | AP EAPCET | APSCHE | May | Counselling July–Aug |
| Tamil Nadu | TNEA / Direct on 12th | DOTE Tamil Nadu | — | Counselling July–Sep |
| Kerala | KEAM (engg + pharma) | CEE Kerala | April – May | Counselling July–Aug |
| Uttar Pradesh | JEECUP-LE for diploma | JEECUP | May | Counselling July–Aug |
| Gujarat | GUJCET / direct | GSEB | April | Counselling June–July |
Counsellors at Noble College see ~5-10% of D Pharma applications rejected at document verification each year. Almost all rejections fall into the categories below. Most are recoverable with the right paperwork — the table flags what students should pre-emptively check.
| Rejection reason | How to detect early | Remedy |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong subject combination (e.g. 12th with Computer Sci instead of Biology/Maths) | Check 12th marksheet for PCB or PCM | Re-attempt 12th Science with correct subjects, or NIOS PCB |
| Aggregate below 45% (40% reserved) | Compute (Phy + Chem + Bio/Maths) / 3 from 12th | Re-attempt 12th to improve marks, or apply for reserved category if eligible |
| Age below 17 on 31 December of admission year | Check Aadhaar DOB | Wait one year, or apply for 2027 cycle directly |
| Compartment / supplementary not yet cleared | Check final consolidated marksheet | Clear supplementary, then apply with both marksheets |
| Missing Migration Certificate (out-of-state student) | Check issuing board's documentation | Apply to issuing board; takes 2-4 weeks |
| Caste certificate format mismatch (for reserved category) | Verify the issuing tahsildar's format matches state requirement | Reissue from correct tahsildar office |
| Income certificate older than 1 year (for scholarship) | Check date on income certificate | Reissue from tahsildar; valid for 1 year |
| Foreign 12th without AIU equivalence | Required for non-Indian board qualifications | Apply for AIU equivalence; takes 4-8 weeks |
Your eligibility depends on 12th marks + PCB/PCM subjects + age. Once you meet that, the state-specific admission path determines fees, scholarships, and entrance-exam requirements.
